House Washing

House Washing

Purchasing a home is the biggest investment you will make in your life, and it is important to keep it maintained inside and out.  Just like your vehicle, your house gets dirty too!  Washing the exterior of your home is recommended at least every 2 years in a dry climate, and every year to 18 months in wetter, more humid climates.  House washing done the proper way can help restore exterior luster, and protect surfaces from algae, mold spores, and lichen that can damage your home without etching your brick or rock or destroying wood and vinyl siding.  Big Tex Pro Wash uses a safe, low pressure method, called a “Softwash”, to remove harmful debris from your exterior surfaces.  It is recommended for all types of exterior materials such as:

  • Wood and Vinyl Siding
  • Corrugated Metal Sheeting
  • Painted, Whitewashed, or Bare Brick
  • Austin Stone, Granbury Stone, or Other Soft, Porous Rock
  • Stucco or Dryvit

How do you know that your home needs a house wash?

If your home has black, brown, green, red or white areas that were not always there, you need a house wash!

Black areas are generally mold growth and needs to be treated to kill off the bacteria that is causing it.  Green usually means algae growth is present and needs to be killed off at the source to remove it. Brown is usually dirt, bird and bug nests that have taken up residency on your home!  Red is generally rust or clay, and white is calcium buildup.

Low pressure house washing should only be performed by a trained professional.  The secret to the process is not in the pressure, but the proprietary blend of professional grade detergents that stick to organic matter and kill it at its source.  This blend of detergent is applied to all exterior surfaces of your home including eaves, soffits, facia, porch ceilings and overhangs, as well as all exterior walls.  After the proper dwell time has been reached, everything is gently rinsed with water at approximately 8 gallons per minute, to remove all detergents revealing a sparkling clean home.  The high-volume rinse rate helps to dilute any resonate detergent so that it breaks down completely without harming grass and plants. It will even get those pesky hard to remove dirt dauber nests.

Did you know that high pressure can etch hard surfaces like brick?  High pressure cleaning can completely blast away the outer surface of brick and leave permanent etch marks.  Also if you have a whitewash finish on your brick, pressure can completely remove that as well, and it can cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars to try to repair with no guarantee that it will completely match the rest of the home.  It is easy to wreck havoc without the proper education to know what is safe to use and what is not.

Rust is a common problem in Parker County, as well as red clay, and calcium build up, or efflorescence.  Improperly adjusted sprinkler heads are the usual culprit for that rust colored staining, or the white, ashy look on homes and fences.  Big Tex Pro Wash treats these issues as well!  We typically prefer an onsite inspection for these specific issues to address severity and expectations, as we want you to be completely satisfied with the outcome!
